“Attitude is everything”

Modelling is about more than just being a pretty face. You will need to look after yourself mentally and physically. With the right attitude, confidence and self belief you can go far. Here are some tips on how to stay in the right frame of mind so that you are able to give your best on every job.

Well being

Remember your face and body is what will be getting you work so it is important that you keep it in pristine condition. Exercise regularly – not only does it keep your body in great shape it also relaxes you. Yoga has becoming hugely popular over the last decade as a great way to get your body and mind in tip top condition.

Eat right

It is important that you eat a balanced diet with plenty of water, fresh fruit and vegetable to give your skin and eyes a healthy glow.

Have goals

Make sure they are realistic though. Setting a goal of being on the front cover of Vogue in your first year of modelling is setting the bar too high. Not to say it is impossible but setting a goal of being published in a reputable magazine as a first goal is more realistic and you will feel great as you cross each of your goals off the list.

Learn from each experience

Once you have finished a shoot evaluate the day and make a note of the positives and the negatives. Learn from each shoot so that the next one is always better. We cannot control everything so sometimes things can go wrong but as long as you are prepared and do the best you can then you can be proud of yourself.

Remain positive

“I think it’s important to get your surroundings as well as yourself into a positive state – meaning surround yourself with positive people, not the kind who are negative and jealous of everything you do.” – Heidi Klum The industry is tough enough as it is without those close to you trying to bring you down. You will find working in the industry much easier if those around you support what you are doing. Try to avoid being around people that are negative or do not support your career choice.
